The University of Dallas is a private Catholic university located in Irving, Texas. It was founded in 1956. The University of Dallas is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees through the Ph.D.
Mission
The University of Dallas is a Catholic institution that seeks to educate its students, to develop intellectual and moral virtues, to prepare themselves for life and work, and to become leaders in the community. Through intensive teaching, interactive discourse, and critical analysis, the university pursues truth, virtue, and wisdom in the liberal arts and professional studies.
Ranking
The University of Dallas is one of the country's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The University of Dallas was named one of America’s Best Colleges in the annual rankings of public and private colleges by Forbes magazine. The University of Dallas was named one of America’s Best Colleges in the 2011 edition of Best Colleges by U.S. News Media Group. The University ranked 15th out of 115 schools in the Western region and 2nd out of 32 schools in Texas included in the same region.

Facilities
The school is located on a 744 acre (3 km²) suburban campus in Irving, Texas, 12 miles (19 km) from downtown Dallas. Irving, Texas, is 10 miles from DFW International Airport, 10 miles from Dallas Love Field and 15 minutes from downtown Dallas. The Irving city is located in the U.S. state of Texas within Dallas County. Irving is within the Dallas–Plano–Irving metropolitan division of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area.
Accomodation
The University of Dallas has seven undergraduate residence halls - six 'traditional-style' halls for new students and one new hall for upperclassmen still under the residency requirement.
All freshmen living on campus are placed in traditional hall standard double rooms with a freshman roommate.

Scholarships
For under graduates, awards ranging from $5,000 up to full tuition per year may be offered to selected applicants based on high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores. For graduates, research assistantships are available.
