Overview
What James Millikin envisioned when he founded Millikin University in 1901 was unique: a university that would embrace the "practical" side of learning along with the "literary and classical;" and, while affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, it would not be narrowly "sectarian" and would remain open to all.
Mission:
To Deliver on the Promise of Education
At Millikin, we prepare students for:
- Professional success;
- Democratic citizenship in a global environment;
- A personal life of meaning and value.
Accreditation:
Millikin University has been accredited since 1914 by what is now the Higher Learning commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The most recent re-affirmation of that accreditation was in 2007.
