Overview
Hawai'i Pacific University is a private, independent, not-for-profit, coeducational, nonsectarian, career-oriented postsecondary institution founded in 1965. HPU is the largest private university in Hawaii, and strives to keep the cost of a private university education affordable. HPU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Through the 1970's and 1980's, Hawai‘i Pacific College continued to expand and develop, and in 1990, became Hawai‘i Pacific University. In 1992, Hawai‘i Loa College, a small, independent, leberal arts college located on the windward side of Oahu, merged into Hawai‘i Pacific University. This historic merger brought together the strength of two academically strong instituitions, and has helped to expand Hawai‘i Pacific University's role as a leader in higher education.
Students come from over 100 countries to study at HPU, making it one of the most diverse campuses in the world.

With three campuses linked by shuttle, HPU combines the excitement of an urban downtown campus with the serenity of a residential campus set in the green foothills of the windward side of the island With high-tech computer labs and executive classrooms, HPU students have some of the best and newest technology at their fingertips.
The university's libraries grant enrolled international students access to more than 50 international newspapers and magazines. These publications are available to HPU students either in print form at the libraries, or may be viewed online through the university's intra-net 'HPU Pipeline'.
HPU's Career Services Center (CSC) provides a wide array of career services to prepare international students with career knowledge and the job skills necessary to obtain a variety of career opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally.

Undergraduate Programs
Hawai'i Pacific University offers more than 50 programs at the bachelor's (undergraduate) degree level (the first American university degree) in the areas of business, computer information systems, liberal arts, and other sciences.
All of HPU's bachelor's degrees can be completed in three to four years, depending upon the initiative of the student. Students entering HPU with prior college education or high school graduates receiving an IB, may be eligible for transfer credit towards their bachelor's degree at HPU.
Graduate Programs
Hawai'i Pacific University offers 12 master's (graduate) degrees, 11 joint master's degree programs and 22 graduate certificate programs. Students with a U.S. Bachelor's degree or its equivalent may apply for graduate studies.

Hawai'i Pacific University offers several types of institutional undergraduate and graduate scholarships to new, full-time, degree-seeking students.
- Graduate Trustee-$6,000 ($3,000/semester)
- Graduate Dean-$4,000 ($2,000/semester)
- Graduate Kokua-$2,000 ($1,000/semester)
