Portsmouth is a dynamic university located on the south coast of England, with 20,000 students, including more than 3,500 overseas students from over 100 countries, The University aims to give students an excellent experience focused on knowledge and skills essential for roles in the global workforce.
The history of the University of Portsmouth dates back to 1870. Since the award of our first degree in 1900, the University has maintained its commitment to promoting and maintaining excellence in teaching and research across its five faculties.

The University of Portsmouth has a strong reputation for teaching and student support. This support is recognised by our students, as we have ranked highly in the National Student Survey for the third year in a row.
In addition to this national recognition and endorsement by our students, we are one of only 16 universities to have received 2 awards to fund Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE.)
Research at the University of Portsmouth is internationally recognised. The latest survey of research quality in UK universities- the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) has rated our research as world class.
Location & Facilities
Portsmouth is a modern, waterfront city surrounded by the sea which has shaped its history and its culture. Just a short walk from our city campus, you can enjoy a breath of fresh air and fantastic sea views on Southsea seafront. Four miles of beach are backed by the green spaces of Southsea Common. A great way to appreciate the city is to experience the view from the Spinnaker Tower in Gunwharf Quays. Rising 170 metres tall, the tower offers amazing panoramic views over the city, the harbour, the south coast and Isle of Wight.
The University of Portsmouth offers excellent facilities. Contemporary buildings and state-of-the-art learning facilities provide students with an exceptional learning environment.
The University Library is at the centre of academic life, and lies at the heart of the campus. An £11 million extension has increased study space, books and computing facilities. Open from 8am to midnight every day during term time, the library is a great place to study, access all your information and meet friends.
We have a wide range of purpose-built, modern and well-equipped halls of residence all offering the opportunity to meet and live amongst other students from different courses, ages, cultures and backgrounds.
We also offer a university bus service during term time, which means getting around campus couldn't be easier.

Scholarships
International Bursaries (GOAL Award)
Global Outreach: Access to Learning (GOAL) is a new bursary scheme available to self-funding, undergraduate students in their first year of study, studying on a full-time course with annual fees of £9200 or above and all full-time postgraduate taught and research students. The award is only for international (non-EU) students coming from countries of low and middle income as defined by the United Nations Human Development Index (please see website for a full list.)
