Manchester Metropolitan University, 'The University for World-Class Professionals', is part of the largest higher education campus in the UK and one of the most extensive education centres in Europe.
MMU was granted university status in 1992 but has departments which date back to the 19th Century. To ensure our place as a world-class university a £300+ investment programme is underway to strengthen the student experience with emphasis on high-quality, cutting edge teaching facilities and course provision.
The university takes pride in the strong links it has established with business and industry which help students understand and experience the realities of the modern working world. MMU is a specialist in sandwich programmes which allow students to undertake a period of work placement between periods of academic study, and many programmes are accredited by professional bodies and associations.
MMU is one of the largest providers of science, engineering and technology education the country. In addition, the University is an international leader in clothing design and technology, home to the UK's second largest business school, and a UK leader in art and design, law, sports science, and the health and social work professions.
The university offers over 1000 courses and qualifications, including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, research for Masters and PhDs, professional courses, HNDs and foundation degrees.
Courses are professionally relevant, which means that our students graduate ready for the workplace. By providing excellent facilities and dedicated professional staff, MMU aims to produce graduates who will become world-class professionals.
MMU has six campuses. The central campus is situated close to Manchester's city centre and there are a further four campuses in other parts of the city and one in Crewe in Cheshire, 58 km from Manchester.
Each campus has its own library and computer drop-in centre. Accommodation is available on or close to each campus. Students can choose from university or private halls of residence.
The city of Manchester is culturally rich with a varied ethnic mix. There are world class museums, famous comedy clubs, opera and ballet, theatre and international cinema and legendary sporting venues.
The city boasts the busiest bus route in Europe and has good transport links with the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond.
