Langside College

 

Overview

  • Langside College is in Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. Langside College celebrated 60 years of excellence in 2007.

  • We welcome students from around the world and since opening in 1947 we have prepared many thousands of students for University and entry to employment via our Highers, A-Level and HNC/D programmes. We enrol more than 10,000 students each year from over 50 countries. With the widest choice of  higher programmes of any college in the west of Scotland, we are also one of the few to be accredited by the British Council in recognition of our high standards in English language tuition. We enjoy excellent links and progression routes to Glasgow's Universities

  • Landside College has 5 campuses across Glasgow. The College has the benefit of a very central location, with excellent bus route sand Mount Florida train station on campus. This offers easy access to all the road and rail networks across Scotland.

  • We offer courses that provide the opportunity to achieve the qualifications for direct access to Glasgow, Strathclyde, Caledonian and West of Scotland Universities, as well as to all other UK Higher Education Institutions and for direct entry to employment.

Private Halls of Residence

The halls of residence, privately owned and run, are situated within the college campus, and consist of 55 single occupancy en-suite study bedrooms. In each of the study bedrooms is a single bed, study desk, wardrobe, easy chair, en-suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin, and TV & internet access. The residences are self- catered with equipped communal living areas and kitchens, including laundry facilities. There are three rooms that are specifically designed for students with mobility problems. Halls of residence cost approximately £85 per week (including heating & lighting). Discounts are available for advance payment for 2 or 3 terms

 

 

Living With A Scottish Family

There are a number of host families in the local area who provide accommodation on a self-catering or meal(s) provided basis. Some accommodation also includes laundry service. This type of accommodation provides an excellent way to experience Scottish family life and to improve English language skills. This option can cost between £90 and £110 depending on standard and location.

 

 

Rented Accommodation

There are many letting agencies in and around Glasgow. Local and national newspapers have extensive property sections which are useful guides in the search for accommodation.     Scholarships

    The 'Langside College Scholarship Programme 2009' will fund accommodation costs for one International student residing within the Langside Halls of Residence during academic session 2009 – 2010.The number of scholarships available during this session is three (3).  The value of each scholarship is approximately £4,000. To apply for this Scholarship the student need to submit an essay that why he has chosen.
