Overview

University of Bolton was earlier know as Bolton Institute of Higher Education. In 1982 this Institute was established after merging Bolton Institute Of Technology and Bolton College of Education (Technical). The Institute was awarded the right to award Taught Degrees in 1990 & Research Degrees in 1994. In 2004 it was awarded the University Status with immediate effect and hence after a lot of discussion the Institue was named as University of Bolton.

In 2006 The University was awarded for the Highest Level of Recommendation by the Quality Assurance Agency. In 2008 the University was ranked top in the North West Region for the students satisfactory comming within the top 15 Universities in UK. University of Boltan was also ranked with in the top 5 Universities in the region for placements and higher educations. Educatio Gaurdian has ranked the University of Bolton as the 1st rank holder among the fastest growing University category.

The University is also well known for vocationally focussed & industry related taught programmes. Business & Media Courses in this University are very popular.
The university has established international links with a number of overseas academic establishments in Germany, Malaysia, Malawi and Greece.
The University has approximately 13,000 students.

The University of Bolton is located in greater Manchester, England. Bolton is a small friendly and prosperous town near the big cities of Manchester & Liverpool. Nearest International Airport is City Airport, Manchester, which is 19 mins driving distance from the University.Distance from the University to London is approximately 3hrs 46 mins. University has mordern & compact campus with small teaching groups on many courses.
