New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia is a place for talented, imaginative, and determined students to experiment, to take risks, and to flourish. It is a place for them to create. Since its founding in 1965, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University has become one of the leading centers of academic and professional training in the United States.

In 2007, the school opened New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia and offers three Master of Fine Arts degrees within the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television: Animation and Digital Arts, Dramatic Writing, Film, or International Media Producing.

The curriculum at Tisch School of the Arts Asia is based on the principles of great storytelling, and is identical to the curriculum offered at the school's campus in New York. All instruction is delivered in English. At the completion of the program, students will earn the prestigious New York University Master of Fine Arts degree.

Each member of the faculty has been meticulously selected to teach at Tisch School of the Arts Asia because of their strong ties to the industry and their tireless devotion to educating the next generation of storytellers. Many members of the faculty, originally from the campus in New York, now are in residence in Singapore. And new instructors from Asia, Europe and other cities in the United States have joined the faculty.

Stories We've Never Heard

"Why is the question I've been asked for five years," Pari Sara Shirazi, Ph.D., president of Tisch School of the Arts Asia, said during the school's opening ceremony in 2007.

She called each student to stand, and she recognized the countries they represented. "If we did not have a school here, would they be in Singapore? Would they know each other? These are beautifully diverse students.

They are highly talented. They are brave. And they are adventurous. Their stories are going to be different. They will make us think and look at the world differently.

These students at Tisch Asia will tell us stories of people we've never met." Students from 21 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, Uganda, the West Indies, and the United States, now study at our campus. Singapore, home to Tisch School of the Arts Asia, offers a multicultural society that is imperative to creative work. The nation's infrastructure, its entrepreneurial spirit, the location to other parts of the world, and the burgeoning arts community also make it an ideal place for an education in the arts.

Location & Facilities

New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia is located on a three-acre campus in the central region of Singapore. The 40,000-square-foot educational center was completely renovated in 2007 to feature sound stages, animation studios, a black box theater, a writing center, two raked 50-seat theatres with 35mm and video projection, state-of-the-art Mac and PC workstations, foley rooms, sound engineering stations, editing labs, and a script and film library.
