Overview
The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) founded in 1956, is Singapore's oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning.
In its fifth decade, MDIS has maintained its dedication to professionals through the provision of well-accredited courses, seminars and management services. MDIS provides opportunities for individuals to develop professionally through academic programmes in the areas of Business and Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Mass Communications, Psychology, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management offered in collaboration with highly acclaimed universities in Australia, France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
The success of MDIS' graduates is attributed to the institutes strong commitment to high quality standards of education. MDIS. exemplary education and business excellence standards were further endorsed in July 2003 when MDIS received the Singapore Quality Class award under a new category created for Private Education Organisations (PEOs). In August 2005, MDIS received the CaseTrust Accreditation for PEOs.
In September 2008, MDIS set up its first overseas campus in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan in Central Asia to offer world-class tertiary education to students from the Central Asia region.
MDIS has representative offices in China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. It is also represented by agents throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Location & Facilities
MDIS has a history of providing training and educational services to the community and the nation. The $35 million MDIS Campus occupies a three-hectare land area. It has state-of-the-art classrooms, life sciences laboratories, computer laboratories, a hospitality training centre, a mass communications studio, engineering laboratory and workshop, sports facilities such as a gymnasium, and badminton and table-tennis courts. The campus also has an amphitheatre that can house art performances and other events.
The campus is wi-fi enabled, allowing students access to the World Wide Web anywhere on campus. In addition, MDIS enhances students. learning experience with the Blackboard Learning System and video streaming technology which allow online access to lecture notes, learning resources and recorded lessons anytime, anywhere.
MDIS has another learning centre, MDIS Dhoby Ghaut, located at Orchard Road.
MDIS Integrated Hostel
MDIS will be investing up to S$100 million of its own cash reserves in its Stirling Road Campus; S$80 million will be used to build the integrated 15-storey hostel and teaching facilities and the remaining S$20 million will be used for the development of its new 6-storey administrative wing.
We plan to develop the hostel within the premises and this project is part of our overall development plan to create a self-contained integrated campus for our international students. The new hostel will have 782 rooms and up to 14 suites, a 495-seat lecture theatre and an 11-stall cafeteria with a seating capacity of up to 600. The integrated hostel will be ready by 2010.

Scholarships
Scholarship and Grants
MDIS is launching the Study Scholarship to cater for international students who wish to study with MDIS. To cater to the more diverse group of international students from the region, the scholarship will be offered at two levels- Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree.
The amount of SGD 2.5 million assistance will eventually help 2,000 international students from across Asia in 2010. Through these scholarships, we hope to attract more talents for the academic programmes.
For Master's Degree courses, the scholarship amount will be SGD 1,500. (net after 7% GST)
For Bachelor's Degree courses, the scholarship amount will be SGD 1,000. (net after 7% GST)
