Overview
Founded in 1839 by Charles Frederick Allison, Mount Allison has a rich history but has always kept an eye squarely on the future. Mount Allison was one of the first universities in the country to introduce a completely wireless campus and has had a lot of other "firsts" as well.
Mount A has more claims than beauty alone. We offer five degrees to undergraduate students - Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Music, as well as some postgraduate degrees in science. MTA is the first university to grant a Bachelor of Arts degree to a woman; it has the oldest university art gallery in Canada; and is the first university to offer a Canadian Studies program. The first director of that program was the late Dr. George Stanley, the designer of the Canadian flag. Graduates from MTA have become leaders in their fields and consistently rank Mount Allison as a great place to live and learn.
- #1 one ranking in Maclean’s
- A+ from The Globe and Mail’s University Report Card
- Top placement in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
Almost 10 per cent of Mount Allison's students come from outside Canada from as many as 40 different countries.
