Tropical North Queensland TAFE (CRICOS Code 02012B) is owned by the Queensland State Government and has been established for over 50 years. In 2009, Tropical North Queensland TAFE was awarded Queensland’s Public Provider of the Year.

With 9 campuses and more than 13,000 students each year, we are the largest provider of vocational education and training in Cairns and the Tropical North Queensland region. Approximately 200 international students from 40 countries enrol in vocational courses at the Institute each year.

 

Our teachers come from industry and regularly return to work in their industry to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain current and relevant. Location & Facilities

Cairns has one of Australia’s busiest international airports and is one of Australia’s most popular tourism destinations with more than 3 million visitors each year.

 

It is the only place in the world where two World Heritage Areas meet – the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics. Visitors to the area can access a wide variety of low-cost tourism activities. The outback is within easy reach, while around the city a diverse array of experiences are available including amazing terrain, abundant wildlife, excellent fishing, bushwalking/trekking, snorkelling, diving, swimming, shopping centres, art galleries, live music and theatre performances.

 

The Tropical North Queensland TAFE campus is set on 11 hectares of land and provides a range of facilities and support services to help international students make the most of their training. From the centre of the city, it will take 15-20 minutes to walk to TAFE.
